Daily Kos: Komengate - THIS is the face of Breast Cancer

This will be another short diary. ?If this has been shared on Kos in another diary already, I'll delete my diary. ?

One silver lining in all of this is that, for many of us, the true Susan G. Komen (SGK) organization has been laid bare. It's ideology, theology (who knew), and the agenda of those who now steer the future of this organization. ?(Ari Fleischer, are you kidding me?)

Another silver lining is that Planned Parenthood (PP) has been thrust into the national spotlight, and the national dialogue. ?Millions of men and women, from all walks of religion, political beliefs and personal ideologies, came together and raised millions of dollars for Planned Parenthood. ?What has also been revealed is that Planned Parenthood is NOT, and never was, an "abortion factory." ?Now, right wing fundies will always believe what they want, even when those beliefs have no basis in reality or fact. ?But many other people learned a lot of things this week, important things - about what SGK is not and what PP is, who they are, what they do, and how many millions of women rely on their services to provide the most basic of healthcare. ?

So as I always try to believe, there is ALWAYS a silver lining...

This is the face of breast cancer. ?It is the best, frankest and most honest response to Komen that I've seen in the many days since Komengate exploded. ?This woman is unbelievably brave. She honest and frank, and she truly exposes what breast cancer is. ?She also exposes what breast cancer is NOT.

The video is graphic. ?After many years on Kos, I STILL don't know how to embed video/pictures, so here's the link to one of the best responses I've ever seen to Komengate.

I'd love for this video to go viral. ?I'm posting on Facebook. I'm tweeting it. I first saw it because of today's Crooks and Liars email. ?

If you are so inclined, please pass it on.

On a personal note, I am now a monthly contributor to Planned Parenthood. I should ?have done this before, but it is better late than never. ?I, like many, just never realized the depth of services that PP provides, nor the extent to which so many women rely on them. ?I am fortune. Millions of women are not. ?I owe it to them to pay it forward ...

(I will be out all afternoon so if I need to take this diary down after all, it won't be until much later.)
